Sabres News · Sabres Swim and Dive Team Finish Strong at True Team State

The Sartell Sabres Swim and Dive Team had a strong showing at the State True Team swim meet this weekend. Taking 2nd only to Visitation, the depth of the team proved themselves once again.

The 200 Yard Medley “A” Relay consisting of Heidi Lenarz, Emma Yao, Holly Lenarz and Madeline Francois started the meet with 1st place dibs with a state cut time (1:50.88). The 200 Medley “B” Relay (Macy Dockendorf, Sara Hennemann, Meleah Myhrwold and Peyton Sabart) finished in a strong 12th place.

The 200 Yard Freestyle was the next event for the Sabres to shine. Faith Akervik placed 5th (2:01.24) and Megann Jobin placed 7th (2:01.68).

The 200 Yard Individual Medley was the next event for the Sabres to show their depth. Heidi Lenarz took 3rd place honors with a state cut time and personal best time (2:10.23) and her sister Holly Lenarz also earned a state cut and personal best time (2:13.54), placing 5th. Sara Hennemann placed 15th with an impressive time cut and personal best (2:23.87).

Our sprinters did not disappoint in the 50 Yard Freestyle with Lauryn Kramer placing 5th (25.00 seconds), Liberty Johnson 6th (25.47) and Madeline Francois 8th (25.51). Janie Martin rounded out the top 20th place (26.62).

The Sabre Divers were quite impressive with Hailey Westrup taking the first place title with a score of 363.45. Morgan Weber placed 10th (287.35) and first year divers Ivy Senn placed 12th (281.75) and Emma Schwartz placed 13th (277.30). Strong work girls!!

Holly Lenarz broke her sister Heidi’s Sartell Middle School 100 Yard Butterfly record set in 2016, with a time of 1:00.56, placing 6th and Emma Yao took 17th place with a time of 1:04.05.

Lauryn Kramer took 2nd place honors in the 100 Yard Freestyle (54.64), Liberty Johnson placed 6th (56.04), Madeline Francois placed 9th (56.71) and Janie Martin rounded out the sprinters with 21st place (58.68).

The 500 Yard Freestyle was the next solid event for the Sabres with Heidi Lenarz placing 4th (5:18.87), Megann Jobin placing 5th (5:26.05) and Faith Akervik placing 6th (5:26.68). These distance swimmers all achieved state cut times.

The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (Johnson, Akervik , Yao and Kramer) kept the momentum going and placed 3rd overall with a time of 1:41.74.

Our backstrokers Sienna Albjerg and Macy Dockendorf had phenomenal time cuts both placing in the top 16 and our breaststrokers Emma Yao and Sara Hennemann both earned top 8 honors.

The Sabres finished strong with the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. The “A” relay team (Kramer, Holly Lenarz, Johnson and Heidi Lenarz) finished a solid 3rd place with a state cut time (3:41.00) and the “B” and “C” relay teams both finished in the top 16.

The Sabres next meet is the CLC Conference meet in Alexandria on Saturday, October 26th.
