Sabres News · Sabre Baseball: Two Pitchers Team Up As Sartell HS Varsity Shuts Out Alexandria

Sartell HS Varsity defeated Alexandria 4-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.   Tyler Phelps-Hemmesch earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Sartell HS Varsity.  The right-hander went six innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and striking out seven. Steven Brinkerhoff threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Steven Brinkerhoff induced a groundout from Reid Reisdorf to finish off the game.

Sartell HS Varsity got things started in the first inning when Blake Haus and Brinkerhoff drew a walks, scoring two runs.

Will Suchy took the loss for Alexandria. The pitcher surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings, striking out seven. Sartell HS Varsity racked up eight hits in the game. Charlie Kent and Jack Greenlun all had multiple hits for Sartell HS VarsityKent went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Sartell HS Varsity in hits.

Sartell HS Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Greenlun had the most chances in the field with eight.

Sartell improved to 7-0 on the season, 6-0 in the CLC.  The Sabres play at home on Tuesday, May 4 vs Apollo in a doubleheader.  The game is our annual Batting for Brent game to fight ALS.  There is no admission but the Sabres will take donations to fight ALS and to finish the Brent Weber Memorial at Orthopedic Sports Field.
