Rogers High School
Sartell High School
The Sartell/Sauk Rapids Storm’n Sabres opened their season hosting Rogers and finished with a 1-1 tie. Storm’n Sabres junior goaltender Madison DeMarais stopped 39 of 40 shots in an impressive opening night performance between the pipes.
Rogers took a 1-0 lead six minutes into the third period. The Storm’n Sabres had numerous opportunities to tie the game game in the third period and finally cashed in when Brooke Walters fed Carlie Hansen for the tying goal. Hansen’s first varsity goal will certainly be a memorable one, knotting up the score with less than 3 minutes remaining in the 3rd period.
Both teams had scoring chances in the overtime, but both goalies continued their strong play. Rogers moves to 1-0-1 on the young season, while Sartell/Sauk Rapids is 0-0-1. The Strom’n Sabres return to action Tuesday, November 21st at 7:15 at Bernick’s Arena when they host Fergus Falls.
