The Sabre Powerhouse was hitting on all cylinders on Thursday night in Alexandria earning a nice victory against a fast CLC opponent.
200 Medley Relay: The Sabres placed 2nd and 3rd in a tight race. The team of Thomas, Zhang, Garman, and Trombley had a season best time to lead the way for the big blue.
200 Free: Captain Carter was amazing as he wowed the crowd with a PR time of 1:45.17 to take the gold. Jackson Hovda and Charlie Magnuson also had PR times to add to the scoring. Awesome!
200 IM: George Larson, Beau Garman, and Hayden Lenarz all swam season best times to score big points for the Sabres.
50 Free: This event pitted 2 of the fastest sprinters in the state head to head in an anticipated dual season match up. Garratt Maras of Sartell stood atop the podium though with a life best swim of 21.72 to score 6 for the visiting Sabre blue. David Zhang came up big as well with a life best 22.72 nabbing third place. Senior Carter Trombley also had an outstanding swim scoring in fourth for the powerhouse.
The Diving: David Binsfeld placed second after a brush with the board. Carsyn Peterson was third and Daven Nelson sixth to round out the high flying Sabre springboarders.
100 Fly: Senior standout Jack Thomas dropped a few tenths to place second in the fly vs. a tough Alex opponent. Beau Garman placed fourth and Cameron Schreifels fifth all scoring to add to the big blue point totals.
100 Free: Big G was at it again in the 100 Free taking first place and swimming fast. Lil G George Larson lite it up with a life best 48.88 to place third in a fast heat. Jackson Hovda placed 5th and continued his outstanding night with a 52.36. Way to go Jackson!!
500 Free: Captain Carter burned up the pool in the 500 with a season best time and a first place finish. Hayden Lenarz and Brice Kadlec added to the Sabre scoring with solid times. Charlie Magnuson also looked good in the outside lane swimming a competitive 5:54.72.
200 Free Relay: The short relay of Zhang, Larson, Larson, Maras was Aces swimming a blazing fast 1:28.57.
100 Back: Jack Thomas helped the Sabres take control of the meet with a win in the 100 backstroke. Peter Espelien had a PR for the season in the back with a 1:00.08 time that placed third. Cam Schreifels was right on his heels at 1:01.20. Maxx Jokela continued to add depth to the squad with a 1:06.97.
100 Breastroke: David Zhang was tough swimming a season best 1:03.64 placing second. Lance Anderson was solid with a thrid place finish and a 1:07 finish. Carter Trombley and Austin Besser duked it out for fourth place with season best PR times.
400 FR.: The powerhouse A relay of Larson, Thomas, Larson, and Maras shined in the last event of the night placing first with a 3:15 swim. The B relay of Garman, Lenarz, Hovda, and Schreifels was just as impressive with a 3:33.97 time.
